The impressive Royal Gorge area is Fremont County’s premier tourist attraction and provides visitors with a multitude of things to do. Royal Gorge and Bridge Park receives around 300,000 visitors per year.

Royal Gorge Bridge and Park
Simply take a walk across the bridge almost 1,000 feet above the Arkansas River or get more daring with a gondola ride, the Royal Rush Skycoaster, or the highest zipline in the country. The “Park After Dark” concert series is also a treat during the summer.
Helicopter Tours
Royal Gorge Helitours offers a number of different helicopter tours of the Royal Gorge area, as well as a few longer tours and package tours.
Hiking and Biking
Thanks to a lot of hard work by the folks at Fremont Adventure Recreation, a number of hiking and biking trails have recently been built in the Royal Gorge area, with more in the works. Click HERE for a map of the hiking/biking trails in this area.
Dinosaur Experience
The Dinosaur Experience features at 16,000 square foot museum with guided tours, the T-Rex Terror Ropes Course, and the Dinosaur Wild Walk featuring animatronic dinosaurs.
Segway Tours
iLean Ride Co. offers a dirt track for testing out your Segway-riding skills, and also leads guided Segway tours in the Royal Gorge Park, up and over Skyline Drive, and in downtown Cañon City.
Camping/RVing
Whether you want a full-service, full hook-up RV camping experience, “glamping’ in fancy tent-cabins, or a more “roughing-it” experience, the Royal Gorge area has something for you! East RIdge Campground offers a more rustic first-come-first-served camping experience (see campground map HERE), while multiple RV parks in the area are happy to accommodate your RV.
Jeep Tours
Colorado Jeep Tours offers tours in the Royal Gorge area, one of which transports visitors across the Royal Gorge Bridge itself.
Ziplining
The Royal Gorge area has not one but two zipline options: the Cloudscraper Zipline at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, and Colorado Zip Line Tours not too far away from the Gorge.
Rafting the Royal Gorge
With rapids rated from Class III to Class V, the Royal Gorge section of the Arkansas River is sure to provide lots of whitewater thrills. A number of rafting companies in the area offer Royal Gorge trips and package deals
Royal Gorge Route Railroad
The Royal Gorge Route Railroad treats visitors to a 2-hour scenic and historic train ride through the Royal Gorge. It follows a section of track that was involved in what was called the Royal Gorge War, where competing railroad companies fought for the right to build a track through the canyon.
