Cañon City Brews & Bikes is a wonderful new-ish addition to Cañon City’s historic downtown business district, located on the west end of town at 224 Main Street. Cañon City Brews & Bikes offers great food with an ever-expanding menu, a fully-stocked bar that includes 16 Colorado craft beer taps, live music on weekends, bike rentals, and an awesome dog-friendly outdoor patio and beer garden that are accessible nearly year-round thanks to the great climate in Colorado’s “Banana Belt.”
Cañon City Brews & Bikes is the dream of Kirk and Mayra Anderson, brought to fruition through hard work and great support from family and friends. Kirk & Mayra opened Cañon City Brews & Bikes in 2018 after stumbling upon the historic 224 Main Street property and then were able to acquire the adjacent property that is now their beer garden.
Per Kirk and Mayra: “Our goal with this business is to create a relaxed and friendly place to have fun and enjoy two of our favorite passions – brews and bikes!” When asked about the highlight of opening Cañon City Brews & Bikes, Mayra stated, “The best thing is the people we’ve met. The fun, outdoor atmosphere brings people together, and we have also established a large group of regulars.” Mayra is proud that they have created a “Cheers”-like environment where everyone can feel at home.
In addition to live music on the weekends, Cañon City Brews & Bikes hosts a lot of fundraisers for local non-profit organizations and holds special events throughout the year. There’s always something going on at Cañon City Brews & Bikes!
You can’t help but notice that Cañon City Brews & Bikes has a definite “bicycle” theme in their décor, both inside and out. If you want to go for a spin on some of Cañon City’s superb mountain biking trails, Colorado Springs-made Borealis Fat Bikes are available for rent at extremely reasonable rates, which you can check out HERE. Cañon City Brews & Bikes is located within easy riding distance of some of Cañon City’s best mountain biking trails – download trail maps HERE. Or ask for Kirk – he would LOVE to share some trail wisdom with you!
When you go to Cañon City Brews & Bikes, be sure to take note of a few details in the indoor portion of the establishment. The east wall consists of old barn wood and old barn sliding doors sourced from right here in Cañon City. The bar top is made from repurposed tables from St. Scholastica. And the foot rail at the bar is a piece of rail from Rock & Rail’s railroad tracks.
Kirk and Mayra’s vision for the future is to not only make their own business successful, but also to encourage more businesses to open in downtown Cañon City. Says Mayra, “We don’t see new businesses in Cañon City as competition. The more businesses, the more foot traffic and the better it is for everyone!”
Be sure to come by for Taco Tuesdays!
