JJ’s Helping Paws is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization in Fremont County, Colorado whose mission is to improve the lives of cats and dogs in Fremont County by working to reduce unwanted litters, educating pet owners about responsible Image may contain: catownership, and helping to mitigate the costs of spay and neuter services.

JJ’s Helping Paws’ mission is carried out primarily through three programs: a low-cost spay/neuter program; a community/feral cat colony management program; and the Uber Kitty Program.

The spay/neuter program provides low-cost spay/neuter vouchers to pet owners in Fremont County and is funded through donations, small grants, and the generosity of three veterinarians who honor the vouchers. Voucher sales are held several times throughout the year – the dates of the voucher sales can be found on JJ’s Helping Paws’ website HERE. Voucher costs and additional information about this program can be found HERE.

The community/feral cat colony management program is a huge large part of what JJ’s Helping Paws does. Community/feral cat colonies (cats not socialized to humans) are abundant in Fremont County. Through their TNR (trap/neuter/return) Image may contain: cat and outdoorprogram, JJ’s Helping Paws ensures that colonies dramatically reduce kitten births and, as a result, remain generally healthy and lead a better quality of life. Community cat colonies can benefit the community by keeping rodent populations in check.

JJ’s works with citizens to identify and manage feral cat communities in Fremont County. If you are aware of a group of cats that needs care, please let JJ’s Helping Paws’ know so they can help. To assist volunteer colony keepers, JJ’s Helping Paws periodically holds dry cat food drives to help defray the cost of feeding Fremont County’s community cat populations. Their next cat food drive will be on March 23, 2019 – click HERE for details.

Through JJ’s Uber Kitty Program, kittens born into feral colonies (young enough to be socialized – about 5-6 weeks old) Image may contain: cathave the opportunity to be adopted as pets into loving homes. After they are weaned from their mother, the mother is spayed and the kittens are fostered and transferred to a rescue partner for adoption. JJ’s carefully-selected and licensed partners adhere to their rigorous standards of care, so they know the kittens are in good hands on their way to their forever homes!

JJ’s Helping Paws has accomplished the following in 2018:

  • 465 pet cats and dogs were spayed or neutered through local partner veterinarians.
  • 450 feral cats and kittens were trapped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and returned to their communities to prevent uncontrolled feral cat births and help maintain overall colony health.
  • 412 cats and kittens were surrendered to JJ’s.  Through the Uber Kitty Program, all of these cats and kittens have found forever homes with loving families.
  • 1,850 vaccinations were provided to cats and dogs in conjunction with JJ’s various programs.
  • More than 600 cats receive food assistance from JJ’s Feral Food Bank every single day of the year!

As you can see, with the help of volunteers, veterinarian partners, the community, and the board of directors, JJ’s Helping Paws has made a tremendous difference in Fremont County!
