2nd Annual Gala Fundraiser set for September 11, 2021
We Are All Made of Stars benefits FAR

If ever there was a year that warranted a star-studded gala event celebrating history, science, and community, it’s this one. Back from 2019’s successful event, the We Are All Made of Stars gala is scheduled for Saturday, September 11, 2021. Participants will have an opportunity to peruse the Royal Gorge Dinosaur Experience as the sun sets over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, surrounded by elegance and treated to a night of gourmet food and drink.

“This event really is important to us,” says Royal Gorge Dinosaur Experience’s co-owner, Zach Reynolds, “not just as a business owner, but as supporters of Fremont Adventure Recreation.” A departure from FAR’s normal outdoor recreation events, the fundraiser highlights community and commonalities in a year marred by dissention. As astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson states, “…we are anatomically connected to all atoms in the universe. We are not figuratively, but literally stardust.”

“What sets this event apart from any other in the area is the fact that it’s a very formal occasion,” says coordinator Ashlee Sack. “We see each other as professionals, athletes, volunteers, and officials every day, but attending a formal event like this allows us to see each other in a new light. As a community, just as the stars, we are multi-faceted.”

The evening begins with a red-carpet arrival, where participants are treated to having their portraits taken. Once inside, guests will be treated to an opportunity to peruse the museum – decorated by Touch of Love Florists – followed by a live classical quartet. The outdoor Wild Walk, which features life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, will also be available to attendees, who are encouraged to pose for photos and learn about the ancient species. Gourmet hors d’ ourves, created by 8 Mile Bar & Grill chef John Baker, will be served, and craft cocktails will be available. The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey will present the featured wines – the complex As Above, So Below red and white blends.

The gala also features a silent auction, with curated items from local artists, jewelers, outfitters, and photographers. “We have some incredible items from Glenn Martin Apertures, My Art Creations – Elizabeth Gamache, MS Designs, rafting trips, activities, and much more.” Proceeds from the auction benefit Fremont Adventure Recreation.

“This year the event falls on the 20th anniversary of 9/11,” says Reynolds, “and we have some things planned to honor all of the people who were affected by that event.” A portion of the proceeds of We Are All Made of Stars will be used to purchase a cobblestone at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York City – dedicated by our community to the memory of those lost in the attacks.

Tickets to the event are limited and expected to sell out. More information on the event can be found at https://ccmadeofstars.weebly.com/ . Tickets are available for $55 per person or $100 per couple. Dress code will be strictly enforced.
